Hi! I'm pretty new to this forum and and have just recently begun looking through rolls of pennies. What kind of error/interesting coins should I look for in lincoln memorial pennies? I have just about every lincoln memorial penny in ef-bu condition but for the most part I don't really know what error coins to look for. Any advice? I know to look for 72 DDO, 83 DDR, and 84 DDO, but my knowledge beyond that is pretty limited. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank's ahead of time.:smile

I agree with checking out coppercoins.com. You may want to buy his book called Looking Through Lincoln Cents. There are 2 editions out now. I've got edition 1. Fantastic book and all on those pennies. Actually you should also get the Red Book on coins. You would notice there the more famous error coins such as the 95DD, massive varieties of the 82's, etc. And just wait until you try to figure out the difference between the large and small dates of the 70S.

    Thanks a lot

That website is a very good source even at first glance. I know about all the varieties eg: 1982 1960 and 1970-s but not the errors. Again thank you very much if anyone else has any other sources I appreciate them.

Herer is a dumb question. Why not just start trying to find all the Lincoln Cents? Why not start a complete collection from 09 to present instead of concentrating on error coins. I am also an error collector of all demominations and really don't know why. They are not as impressive as a collection. Not many people I know want to see some microscopic error on a coin that requires me to carry around a magnifier. I end up putting them in a 2x2 and then into a box never to be seen again until someone inherits the whole mess. There are very few slots in albums for error coins and when there is it's only the most popular ones.
