Hi we just received this coin collection. Was wondering if these are all Great Britain coins and if they have any value. Pics can be available if needed.
    Thank you

    Hello bobbylena,

This is correct. If the coins are from a British colony, then the colony name would probably be found on the reverse. I suspect you have several British coins. It would be nice to see photographs. This would allow us to determine the approximate grade and value.

Bunhead coins (1860-1894) tend to be somewhat more desireable than later pennies (if they are in reasonable condition) however, ordinary circulation issues, except for key dates, Heaton, Kings Norton mint ones, and ones in EF and above, from late victoria onwards are nothing particularly special from a selling point of view. There is a victorian penny arcade in Southport that gives you 5 for a pound to use in the machines at a victorian arcade, so they are worth about 20p each.
As I said before though, the bunheads might be worth a few quid each to someone...

Do you have any more info on that arcade? That sounds like something I would love to visit someday.

There is also a shop called Parkinsons which sells minerals, fossils, antique books, as well as coins and other interesting stuff as well. I picked up a syracusian tetradrachm up there once for £180. I always like to visit that when I'm passing through southport...
