Does anyone have any idea what this mint error coin is worth? I just purchased this coin today, I thought I was buying a 1990 Isle of Man "Alley cat" gold 1/5th oz. When I looked at it I noticed that where it should have "Au" it read "Pt". I did a little googling and only found a reference at minterrornews.com where they had a photo of one that was graded MS-67 by PCGS, no value was given. Thanks.
Well I found it in a World Coin book that a friend had, from 2006. At that time a 1/5th oz gold cat was worth $125, the Platinum die error was $400. I'm sending it in to NGC for grading. I will add a photo tonight, the coin should grade MS65 or 66. I paid melt +2%
Turns out there were 467 made with the "Pt" dies. I wonder how many survived? It is now at NGC for grading. It was still sealed in the original flip plastic sleeve (see additional pic) and all the marks in the picture are on the plastic.
where did you get this number? first of all if it is so many, your coin go down in a value of error. few years ago it was Indian head cent struck on $ 2 1/2 gold blank , sold for $25 000, now it's probably about $200 000 or more but for some information for you http://minterrornews.com/
