Dear forum members, please help me find out more info about this silver medal (26.8 g)
Obverse: Standing woman, holding oak leaf wreath in right stretch hand and kind of branch in left sink hand. The word BENEMERENTI from Latin lang. means; to a well deserving person.
Reverse: Port broadside view of a fishing-boat amid waves, with 5 disciples and sleeping Christ inside. Also there is small cloud with wind-blowing face on medals top side.
IN TEMPESTATE SECURITAS from Latin lang. means; safety in the storm. (But there is V instead U)

    Welcome to the neighborhood!

Beneath the mound on which the woman is standing, there looks to be some writing (I think). Can you tell me if it might possibly be the name of the artist?

Latin writing commonly makes the "U" look like a "V".

    Chris

i can find that in tempestate securitas basically means saftey in the storm and the image of the boat with jesus in it has been worn on medalions for hundreds of years for protection by fishermen

part of the writing above the dated translates to "who have reached"

    Thank you for steer!
letters under the name banner E.C.V.CALKER f.

Most likely this medal was given to a person name Harms Freerks in 1787 by someone high up in the church.
I believe this person made something important to the church. (benemerenti - to a well deserving person)
