Hey guys Picked up this collection with a whole bunch of other stuff at an estate sale and I don't know what I've got. If someone could give me some advice as far as the value of this collection I would really appreciate it. Also if you could give me any highlights on the collection I may end up keeping some of the coins for myself. Thanks so much! Welcome to the neighborhood! It would be impossible to give you an idea of value for the raw coins without some good photos showing their condition. The 22 Peace in the NTC slab is probably overgraded 1-2 points, and that is assuming that it isn't a problem coin. Of the Morgan dollars, most of them are common dates that would have to be in mid-MS condition to be worth much, but I would be most interested to see what the 1893-CC and the 1892 look like. You might want to check the 83-O & 88-O on VAMWorld for "Top 100" VAM's. There may be others, but those are the two that automatically come to my mind. Chris
Welcome Ngonzal1, You have an interesting variety of coins and mint sets. As cpm9ball says " good photos showing their condition " is really helpful. The Morgan silver dollar coins especially the 1893-cc and the 83 and 88 " O " mints need photos. Again knowing the condition and the dates of the Wheat cents and war nickels is crucial ang photos will help immeasurably for us.
Welcome!!!! :welcome:Cointalk!! If you can post some photo that will help Chris is spot on NTC 1922 MS65 being MS-63-64. I had a 1888-P NTC MS65 regrade buy Ngc it came back a MS-63

Get a RedBook and learn from your list and the book. It gives you and idea and can help you understand quality as well...great beginners guide to start.
Here are some pics, please let me know your thoughts. I'm trying to put a price on this to resell but I may want to keep some of these for myself. Any advice would be really helpful.
Would it be rude of me to ask how much you paid for all of this? I'm yet to find any coins at estate sales and was just curious if there are deals to be had out there. It sounds like you got a lot of good stuff regardless of how much you paid. Congrats!!
I'll know how much I paid for it once I sell some of the other stuff I got but probably two hundred. Trying to find a price to sell it all together or keep some of it.
Hey guys, here are the pics you requested. Do you think these are worth hanging on to? If I sell I really dont know what to do- I'd probably try to sell them all together but would listen to you guys if you say to hang on to some of them for long term. I know silver is going through the roof so I wouldnt mind waiting this out or selling them now. I dont know what I've got- dont know if I'm looking at $500, $1,000, $2,000 but being a collector of other things I understand its hard to judge without lots of pics and details. Here are some more pics I took-
The 1892 is too low a grade, so wouldn't be worth more than about melt value. The 1893-CC looks like it would be worth $200-$250 or so. Your photos still aren't that good. You should try to take the photos from directly overhead rather than at an angle, and remove the 93-CC from that plastic case beforehand. Chris
Thanks for what you have tried to show us so far. Please go out and buy " A Guide Book of United States Coins by R.S.Yeoman" Also known as The Red Book. You'll get a much better feel for what you have.
paid $600 for 2 guns, a chest of drawers and coins. The guns will probably pay for everything so if you look at it like that then I got the coins free but probably about $200 for coins is what I'll figure
Bumped an old thread b/c I've been attending estate sales. I usually go to Craigslist and type "coins" in the "for sale" section. I've gotten some pretty nice deals here. Not only do I find coins but I also get great deals on collectibles. I picked up a Coca-Cola and Campbell's truck tin for two bucks each. They're both going on ebay for roughly ten dollars. I also bought a 1900-P Morgan Dollar in beautiful condition. It looks brand new and I'll upload a pic soon. Purchased that one for $40 yesterday at a San Marcos warehouse. Other treasures are a 1973 U.S. Mint uncirculated collection for $14.50 from both mints.
And to be clear, I don't purchase coins from a private dealer through craigslist. It doesn't sound kosher to me. Instead, I'll hunt specifically for an estate sale so I innocently walk around, see what coins they have for sale and purchase if I likey. And every time I'll find something worth buying. I traveled 25 miles yesterday only to be disappointed. There was an estate sale that was advertising their silver coins. Well, after 2 hours of opening their doors, the coins were wiped out. They're in high demand; but the warehouse estate sale had a great number of coins-some were going for $35. These were Morgans but I got the oldest one. It was so much prettier, too.
