I got this coin over 24 years ago. I think it was at a swap meet for $1. The weight/size feels like a Large Cent. Thanks for any help.

Ripley got it right, Jaipur mint Paisa. I can't make out the date, but it looks like Shah Alam II, 1759-1806.

    Rotate both pictures 180.

Did you want me to rotate them 180? It isnt a problem.

But thats interesting, just googling "Shah Alam II".

What would the value be? The corroding is pretty much new since I always figured it was a junk coin. I left it in a coin box for 2x2's loose.

With the large size, and the full die on the planchet, this is probably a Nazarana Paisa, with a catalog of $15 G to $40 in F.

    Both pictures are upside down.

    ~**=-new photos-=**~

Hello, old post, I know.... but I recently traded a couple coins with Mat, and he ended up throwing this one in along with the deal, what a nice guy right? Very cool. Well anyhow, I tried to take some photos that were a little more clear, and was wondering if anyone is able to read the date better from these, or gain any other information?
Any help would be appreciated, as would any more or new info on this Indian Bronze coin.

I can tell which way is right side up on this coin, but for the one side I took some both ways.
The first two are of the one side, one shot rightside up and one shot upside down. The third and fourth are of the other side, and the fifth is next to a US lincoln cent for size comparison.

So no one can shed any new light on this coin with the new photographs?

Looks like KM#40. Struck by Pratap Singh in the name of the Mughal Emperor Shah Alam II.
    Krause lists dates as 37-39(1795-1797).

Date is unreadable from the pictures, but would be to the left of the 'jhar'(the leaf in the center of the reverse).

Here's one in better condition: http://db.stevealbum.com/cgi-bin/viewlot.php?site=2&sale=9&lot=715

Ah, that is helpful. And seeing a nicer example helps. Thank you DCH, your input is much appreciated my friend. Yeah I can read the date '39' in Arabic numerals on the example you linked to. Of course the area to that side of the jhar is worn too heavily on my example. I still really like this coin though, it was very nice of Mat to throw it in along with the Mauryan silver drachm he sent me, great guy.
