Where are all the 2010 nickels & Dimes ?

Well Krispy, you must live in another neck of the woods. I live in California and as I stated, the banks out here DO NOT get federal rolled coins. What they get and issue are re-rolled circulated coins in plastic wraps. None of the banks here get presidential dollars either, because they say nobody wants them and they are special order that cost the banks extra money. ???

How right you are jcakcoin. 2009 is a tough year. I just thought I would be more up to date with the 2010's. I wonder if we are going to see the same thing on the 2011 coins ?

 

I found my first 2010-D coin today: a dime.

 

We could be seeing the start of a trend, with the ever increasing use of electronic transactions, I just don't see the need for coinage like we did two decades ago. I'm sure mintages will increase as the market improves, but I think a trend has begun.

 

5 years ago in my town, not too many people used credit cards, but now, the shoppers ahead of me don't use coins/bills. Sometimes, they don't even have a wallet or purse, just a credit card, storing it like a hotel card. (What if it doesn't work!)

My wife always shops with credit cards or check. This method does not allow for any change. Yesterday she went into the market and purchased a couple of small items which she paid cash. Now comes the part I hate to talk about. She got some change which she didn't show me until we got home. (4) brand new 2011 Lincoln cents. I wanted to go back to that store soooooo bad, but alas, the timeing was bad. From now on when she uses checks I am going to ask her to write for over the amount for cash back.

 

As many have stated, I'm finding many 2010 cents, nickels, and dimes but still no 2009 nickels, dimes, and quarters. I'm not really seeing many 2009 quarters yet either.

 

Over here in Minnesota we have no problem finding "D" mint marked coins. It's the "P" mint marks that are harder to find. The 2009 nickels and dimes do seem to be less but are around. If you want "D"s, there over this way. I just need some of the "P"s from out east.

 

I found this one a few days ago, and another after that. This coin is stunning in hand. Extrememly lusturous and now wear I could see. the only problem is a small scratch on his jaw. Any ideas on grade? I'm thinking it is MS unless that scratch knocks it down, but I could be wrong I haven't attempted to grade anything yet.



Also alot of the little scratch looking things on the obverse are camera fuzz they aren't there in hand. I zoomed in when I cropped and I'm only working with 6 megapixels and I still haven't gotten coin photos down yet. Sorry enough excuses, but I haven't had much problem finding 2010's.

I picked up several rolls of 2010D Dimes last month at my bank in Denver. Got tired of waiting on the 2009D dimes and bought a roll from Valley Coin. Have enough 09P's and 10P's for now, but hope upgrades come along.
Nickels have been tougher. Only found about 30 2010D's so far. Found a cheap roll of 2010P's on eBay. Still waiting to get lucky with 2009P&D's roll searching or for the prices to come down. Only found two of each so far.
Disappointed with bank wrapped specimens, I've only been getting 5 or 6 comparatively good coins from a roll. Majority have heavy bag marks or what looks like liquid staining, or both, some have strange looking areas that look to me like die damage, some others have heavy rub marks. Been looking at nickels, dimes & dollars lately, but quality is poor even on USMint rolls of ATBQ's and my first ever roll of halves. Oh well, cost of this coin business, I guess.

weird, I've been searching rolls from banks for silver, and find nothing but the new coins. >_<
