Picked up a group of mercs today. I'm not a mercury dime collector, I just needed one and will sell the rest. Which one should I keep? 1: 2: 3: These photos are untouched except for being cropped. Sorry if the glare is too much, i'm practicing on getting it right. These images are a great representation of what they look like in hand.
Are those slabbed? If not, just wondering why you would sell them since they won't take up any space. Unless you just really don't want them of course.
They are great looking coins and would keep them all. The only thing that worries me about them are the nicks on the face however I dont think that would stop people from buying them..
I voted for #2 but personally I would keep them all. I love old silver and unless I really needed the money I would keep it.
Number 1 is far and away the best coin of the lot, but it is of course a completely different date than the other two - if that matters to you.
Just my way of thinking these days~BUT~ Between #2 & #3 to go. They all are very keep~able. Need a new category #4~All of the above. :smile
It's a close race between 1 & 2, keep the votes coming! As far as slabbing them: I would think these would have to grade 67 to make it worth the cost, right? Why not keep them? As some may know I am putting togethor a Dansco 7070 set, so I really only wanted one. I just wanted a nice BU+ for the album. I saw this group of 6 on ebay and thought maybe I could keep one and sell the other 5. Hopefully ending up getting the one for free! I was shocked when I saw how nice these were in hand though. There were 6 total, all with gold/purple toning, and all with FSB except one. Care to guess what I paid? I think it was a fair price. Here was the sellers photo:
I cheated and went on eBay to check. I'd say you paid a fair price. Put up your discards with good photos, and I think you could turn a healthy profit. (Although it looks like our buddy "mel-ko" has been getting better money after taking a purple highlighter to his Mercuries...)
Aww. You're no fun! Whats a mel-ko though? I hope you are not suggesting my dimes were hit with a purple highlighter lol. These are all natural (I think)!
Ohh.. Gotchya. He must be married to chicky55 http://shop.ebay.com/chicky55/m.html?_trksid=p4340.l2562
Well it gets worse. I found the actual chemicals they use to tone them. I used to think they were baked, but as someone pointed out in another thread, they use chemicals. Now you can purchase this chemical solution on ebay. Truly a sad state of affairs.
