My question isn't so much what it's worth exactly, as people will start looking up and quoting prices on lists. My question is, based on the grade that you feel it is, how much would *you* pay for this Morgan? What is it worth in that regard?

For the grade I'd say MS-63 from the pics I see.So a dealer probably would pay in a range of $17 - 25.Depending on the dealer but that's only a range.Wait until someone with a more accurate price comes along.;) B12

What would be a reasonable offer to make on this then? As in, me buy it?

If that is an MS64, its the best struck one I've seen. I can afford a larger picture but the hair, eagles chest, is nearly flawless.

I'd pay 50 dollars for the coin, which is quite reasonable, assuming it is ms-64, which it looks to me like it is.

The mark on the cheek might or might not be a factor; the photos aren't clear enough. Based on the assumption that it's an MS64 coin, which is certainly possible, I personally would not exceed $50 for it. Heritage's results are all over the map for that coin in MS64, from $57 to over $100.

It seems the thumbnails are missing. As was said, the prices seemed all over the place so I had a hard time deciding what I would offer for it. When I get it, I will scan it large and see what everyone thinks. I paid more than $50, but I won't say until I get the coin and post the new scans, and then ask if it was worth it (there's a return policy if not).

    Hi samjimmy,
I'm glad the coin has a return policy. I am guessing you bought it on ebay. If so, I have a a feeling the coin is not as nice at it looks. The strike is great, however I think you will find several more scratches than expected when you get it. I'd say half of people on ebay seem to doctor their photos, or take pictures in a very favorable way.

I found several online dealers selling 1886 P Morgans in BU condition and they all seem to go from $50-55,but these may be only MS60+

Yes, this one I did (get it on Ebay). I looked at some of the other auctions and although they all seemed pretty decent, this one looked the best, but it's something I'd have to see up close to really know one way or another. I have a couple others (also got on ebay) but they are just lower quality examples. Hard to buy good stuff based on small photographs.

Coins look different in person than in photographs (sometimes better, sometimes worse). I might hit the Long Beach show tomorrow and see what's there (last day though, so....).

I'm betting the seller is allthatjazzjazz? I'm simply guessing, because I realized the pictures are just like the ones I had from them. If so, you should be very pleased with your purchase.

Yes, that is the seller. We'll see when I get it. If it doesn't please me :D then I'll return it. At least I was close to the suggested mark ($63), and not $50 off, heh.

I would pay a premium for a coin with this great of a strike, even if it has some slight bag mark scratches.

Hey - you don't see a coin with THIS much resolution to often. To me it throws traditional grading off tilt a little.

    Hey Ruben,

I am not that good with Morgan Proofs but, due to the depth and quality of the strike and the rims, do you think it could be a Proof? It sure has the appearance of one and if so, then "samjimmy" made a really great buy!
