Cool idea. I've seen mini versions of these in dollar store toy sections. I may try to track a mini down. The smaller size may be PERFECT for a copy stand.
I'm glad jello_g did...I hadn't seen it. Funny thing...I have one of those in the very room where I do my photography and never thought to use it. Thanks!
I really can't take credit for this... I only found out about this thread because there was a link to an embedded picture here from another CT photography thread. After a quick search, it appears nobody makes these labyrinth toys with the quality and care associated with toys made many years ago. Not that it should make much difference for our purposes as a photographic-subject-tilting-machine, but would like to know if anybody comes across a model that is produced with a high level of craftsmanship. (After all, it would be neat to pass a quality toy to the youngsters rather than trash it when I'm done.)
The one I have is marked "Cardinal, made in Taiwan" and dates from the early '70s. I was concerned that it might not hold it's position...but it looks like it may work.
A Great Idea!! I love your practical idea, which I recognize as a simple solution to the target positioning problem for slabs. I'm tired of positioning with shims, or holding the slab at an angle with a hand outside of the coin location. If you happen upon a link which would allow internet acquisition, would you please post same on this site, as I would definitely purchase. I don't have a clue as to what it may be named, or who may manufacture the object. Regardless, I suspect it couldn't be purchased within an hours+ drive from my small town. Do you want to sell yours? Thanks, Rich
A Target Adjustment Solution. Thanks for your link which provided me with a name to allow an eBay search. I found, and ordered one of these games which I recognize may be smaller than the original device, but I believe will be adequate for my application: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280775035170
