Hi, Just going thorugh random coins (CAD) for the first time. While I scrutinizing them through 10-14x with a 100w light, I am encountering errors which are not recorded. The 2 Major coins I have are 1952-2002 50 cent pieces. Both specimens have different errors. Yet I can't find any information stating ANY errors on these coins (2002) On the one coin, I *suspect* the word CENTS is doubled. On the other coin I know that there are die runs (at least that is what I call them) These runs extend from the each of the following letters D G REGINA from the top of them to the rim & the Crown on the left hand side & the E form the left hand side towards and to the rim. On the other side, there is a distinctive dot above the right side flag. When I compare the 2 coins, they are visable, viable errors. Does anyone here specialize in CAD coins that could help me? I will try to scan them in and hopefully the errors will show up in pics. That will be later. Thanks, Lara
I know my coins are pretty banged up, as I just began my interest exactly one week ago, so I only now learning the importance of keeping coins sacred lol Anyway, here they are...any ideas? info? What do I do with them?
These wouldn't really be considered errors. The "die runs" was due to poor production of these coins and especially the dimes. The mint was using a new method of producing these and it just didn't work. It's actually more difficult to find ones without these runs than it is with. The dot above the flag is more than likely just a die chip. You'll find those on many coins. Again not an error. The doubling is machine doubling (md) - not an error.
