I'm new to real collecting but have accumulated a lot of coins. I have 2 sets of 1995W silver dollars and each have 2 half dollars (clad). Package marked WW11 Anniversary Proof. How do I find the value?

The market is unpredictable on a lot of the modern commems. Have you checked completed listings on eBay?

    Proof set of 3 coins

I have not been able to find a 3 proof set of 1995 W (a silver dollar and 2 half dollars...)
did people take the proof set apart?

As far as I know (and if I'm wrong someone please correct me) the three coin sets consisted of a dollar coin (proof or unc.), a half dollar coin (proof or unc) and a 5 dollar gold coin (proof or unc.). I've never heard of this set being issued with two halfs.

If what Greenie says is correct, it doesn't surprise me that someone may have replaced the $5 gold with one of the half dollars. I've seen this happy once in a while. I even had a set like this that came in a bulk lot purchase except that the gold wasn't switched. They just took it out and didn't bother replacing it.

What puzzles me, Chris, is that the indent for a five dollar coin would be much smaller than the indent for a fifty cent piece.

Sorry, the sets have 1 Silver dollar & 1 half dollar......I have two complete sets and I can't read my own notes... Each set of 2 coins 1995 W are in plastic capsules in a fancy velet box...I know they are not tampered with because I bought them from the mint when issued....but never looked at them...I'm new at this....I'm just starting to look at coins I put away during the last 50 years. Does anyone know about it?

Piano_Pilot, you got a Red Book? A Guide Book of United States Coins is a must have.

And welcome to the forum. :)

    :welcome: to Coin Talk!!

I'm a bit confused (folks here will tell you that happens to me alot!). I "think" you're saying that you have two (2) US Mint issued commemorative proof sets, each with two (2) coins; one (1) silver dollar and one (1) clad half dollar...is that correct?

In your Original Post (OP), you also say that the packages are marked "WW11 Anniversary Proof". The only two (2) coin proof sets of WWII Anniversary Proofs were minted in 1993; not 1995. However, if you're asking about the 1993 WWII Anniversary Proof set, the 2010 Red Book lists them at $80 each..."retail".

cpm9ball makes a great suggestion...look up the completed auctions on eBay to see what folks are actually paying for them "today".

You're absolutely right Green but I think there is a set that has a 90% silver dollar and a copper clad half or something like that, but I don't know if the year mentioned is correct. Pics would be nice!! :D

the grey sheet also list's the bid/ask for these sets, which is a far better gauge for current market value than any other coin price listings.
