Hey Larry.... The beauty of the steel cents is that they represent a key point in history..... Because they were steel, they didn't hold up well so there were many organizations that took these old steel cents and "reprocessed" them. I am betting yours is reprocessed because I do not see any mint luster in your photos and the reprocessing process can ghost many of the devices on the coin.

I'm not sure its been replated, but it is worn and marked up... definitely going to be worth less than a dollar.

Spare change,a LCS would probably give 25 cents on a good day.

I just did... I'm actually more in the reprocessed camp from the new pics. The coin is too shiny for the wear and as Randy said, there's no mint luster to the coin.

Your coin looks replated but with so much flash on the photos it is anyones guess.
When a coin is replated it can sometimes make a device look doubled. Clearer photos of the MM are going to be needed to tell if it is an RPM.

The first series hinted at an RPM, but when a shot is out of focus, funny things happen. These are a bit clearer, but not clear enough to see an RPM. But clear enough that it seems to support that this is a reprocessed cent.

Here are some suggestions on taking sharper images -

The 1943 steel sheets were plated with zinc before being sheared/punched out as blanks. If the edges are shiny, it’s been reprocessed/plated by someone after the mint

    It looks like plate doubling.

Larry, do not be so quick on it not being re-plated. There are many seasoned collectors here with a lot of knowledge. Using caps and jumping up and down is not going to help you in the future. Littleton Coin Company has been re-plating these since Maynard Sundman owned the company back in the 40's. These were widely used in science experiments in the 50's and right on up to today. Steel cents have a very unique look when in original uncirculated condition. Often times they were cleaned before the plating process and other times they were not, and rust followed more quickly. Some were done well, and many were not. If you are looking for an RPM, please narrow the focus to just the mint mark and enlarge without going overboard. I'm not seeing the updated photos at my end.

Reprocessed and bad job of it at that. Spend it at the McDonald's drive up window when they're crowded, I'll bet it'll pass for a dime.

First of all, I'm NOT jumping up and down or using CAPS for that reason, so Please in the future don't "go there" with Me. Also, I'm Not saying that there are NOT any re-plated pieces out there. All I'm saying is that, WHY mine have to be re-plated??? Without any tangible Evidence? Thats all!!

Thank You. Edges are not the "slightest bit" shiny. And the "D" mint mark is Doubled, like I said.

When are you going to post clear, in focus images of the MM? FYI, the mintmark was not part of the die creation process, so can't be doubled. The mintmark was handpunched into the die so would be an RPM (Re-punched mintmark), if indeed that is what you have. Some reading on die creation and the minting process would seem to be in order for you
