I received these in a swap with moneyer 12. A very nice group of 50 pence coins and a 2 Pound coin:

Interesting types. I really haven't seen the different designs of the 50p coins, and didn't realize there were so many reverses. I like them all, the two pound coin is quite pretty as well.

That is a beautiful example. I am not too up to date with the more modern British decimal coinage. I have seen some very nice designs though.

some of the olypic ones are not attractive at all. one of them was desinged by a child because they won a competition, i think it was through a kids tv programme

I see, interesting. I know I have a couple WWII commemorative type circulation issue 50p, one with planes flying on the reverse.... I would have to look through them to be more specific, I only have a couple that don't have the standard reverse.

Yes, that 1994 WWII D-Day commemmorative reverse is a really good one! I remember going to the bank that year and buying about 20 of them and spending them ... (some I kept) ... as I am one of those collectors who also likes to see coins circulate. These coins disappeared when the 50p decreased in size in 1997 and all prior larger ones were demonitised at the end of 1997.

Yes, that is a great reverse. Interesting, I did not know they demonetised the prior larger 50p coins.

indeed. I tried to spend one and the guy said he wouldn't accept it. He said I should go to a bank to exchange it...

I used to have that 2 pound coin too - but I had laundry to do :p

Yes. You can still go to certain banks and exchange them though. So that and the 1973 & 1992/3 EU reverse are no longer with us!
