Here is a pretty neat (I think) medal which commemorates the War of 1812. The composition is Sterling .925 Silver. This thing is HUGE, over 1 1/2 inches in diameter and weighs over an ounce. Thanks for Looking Ben
That’s pretty cool. The stone wall reference is a little weird. I had to go google the war of 1812 Jackson. I was thinking about the other Jackson.
Pretty recently, within the past 20 years for sure I'd imagine. The rim is marked "LONGINES SYMHONETTE STERLING". B
The Longines Symphonette Silver Medals were struck in 1971, I believe. I recently bought a group of 48 of them, below melt price. Some of them are quite artistic, while others seem to have been phone in. It's a shame that the reverse is so uninspired. For metals like these, I would almost prefer a static image (ie; an elaborate eagle that repeats on all of the medals) rather than the block letter legends that these carry. The font isn't even pretty!
