That's the one! I've got one that is 'shaped' like this horseshoe one you have. I can't get to mine to share a pic and see where it's from, but I seem to recall it has a 1958 cent in mine.
This is my favorite. This goes along with what conder posted. The die can leave marks on the rim of the coin.
Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I just wanted to mention that if any CoinTalk members are interested in either of the encased uncirculated 1922-D Lincolns I have up on my website, I'll be happy to give you a good deal. I like this forum a lot, and although I have not been active lately like I used to be (fatherly duties, less money = less time, new job, etc.), I still check in from time to time and always enjoy the friendly community here. At one point I tried paying for advertising on cointalk, but nothing came of it. So I think of any purchase that results in a thread mentioning my coins as free advertising, and I don't mind passing on those savings to fellow members. So if encased cents are your thing and you want a real special one -- an UNCIRCULATED early branch mint with a good amount of original red left -- please don't be afraid to make me an offer or ask if I can give you a break on one. RLM was right, I am proud of these...maybe too proud and probably have them priced too high as a result. I'm willing to listen if you want one for your collection. Edit: I just realized this may possibly fall into the category of an offer and not be fit for this thread. If that's the case, please do remove it. I put it here because I would not have mentioned anything on my own, only in response to the coin already being mentioned in the thread. Thanks, Tom
