2006 nickels check the premier silver proof set and the silver proof set. premier silver proof set is very attrative and can be displayed. but then the price sold the same with the silver proof set. can you believe it. now they have legacy set. that is a copy from the prestige set. why not just buy a proof silver coin and a proof clad set. it will cost very much lesser.
I found the bill from congress that has all the information related to the release of the Teddy Roosevelt Coin. The coin will be, “…(1) emblematic of the life and legacy of President Theodore Roosevelt, bearing his image as a Rough Rider on one side and an eagle design on the other side; and (2) bearing his image on horseback on one side and depicting a flaming sword of righteousness on the other side.” It looks like it’ll be two coins 500,000 total. We’ll see if Roosevelts popularity is reflected in the numismatic community.
roosevelt silver dollar roosevelt and franklin were equally important to us. i think it will be sold out too. well, i have to spend money again.
2007 modern commems little rock and jamestown silver dollars for next year are not popular. and the mintage is high and double when you compared it to franklin and roosevelt. they estimated 150,000 coin could be sold. and they are happy about it.
set up by the mint it seems that the u.s. mint set it up the limit on maximum mintages for each four category. namely founding father proof & unc. and the scientist proof & unc. the maximum for unc is 58,000 for founding father and 58,000 for scientist. why?. because the mint want to promote uncirculated by issueing more pieces than the proof. why? because the mint earned more from the uncirculated rather from the proof. remember the price is $33.00 for unc and $35.00 for proof. before it was based on how many pieces they can sell for each category until it reaches maximum. another clever move by the mint. the loser is the collectors.
Update Teddy Roosevelt commem bill is NOT signed law as of today-Bill passed senate in Dec, but house version (HR 389) is stuck in committee. Govtrack http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h109-389 or Thomas are good ways to check on status of a bill. SF mint commem is in the converse situation-bill passed house, is stuck in committee in the senate. 2007 is as tracy 5900 indicated, Little Rock deseg and Jamestown 400th. 2008-bald eagle recovery act commemorative coin-also signed law. NASA/JPL 50th anniversary commemorative series (pretty interesting lineup http://www.coinresource.com/news/news2005/Nasa.htm-includes a 1 ounce $50 gold coin and silver dollars with images of the 9 planets in our solar system) passed house, in committee senate... Needless to say, I'm rooting for the SF mint commeorative coin to pass- the surchage would go to a museum in the old mint. It is also the hundredth anniversary of the great earthquake and fire, and the old mint was one of the few downtown buildings to survive those events intact. Don
san francisco mint commememorative coin san francisco mint commemorative coin is for what year? 2006 or 2008?. and when it will start to offer to us?.
With the Ben Franklin coins now a sell out, I too am hoping that the SF Mint coin passes into law. It will be a good match with the Franklins, as the reverse of the Founding Father coin depicts his coin design! I think as a combo match, the SF Mint coin will also sell out. Probably not in 10 days, but will sell out nevertheless.
Can u copy me the link to the legislation saying Little Rock has been signed into law as being one of the commems for 2007??
Thanks for that link .. i was unaware fo that site... i found the bill i was looking for here : http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h109-358
