Ok.. here is my first attempt at scanning one of my silver eagles. I can scan at higher res if you need it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks a million.
Technically the milk spots are not supposed to detract from the grade. But they do detract from the eye appeal - so yes I think it loses a point there. Next the coin is weakly struck as can most easily be seen in the gown details - loses another point. Then we have what appear to be fingerprints - one directly above the sun and another directly behind Liberty's left arm - loses another point. Thus MS67.
Hey Zaneman.. I have one of these that did not spot..even after keeping them in a secure safe..perhaps I should send it in before it does... RickieB
Hey Rickie If you ever want to get rid of that '96 Id be glad to take her off your hands.Thats one of the better ungraded I have seen in a while.Very nice.
The only detracting aspect of the coin I see are the "milk spots." I totally agree with Doug. The shouldn't be considered when grading, but they cannot be missed. Ben
I think its a MS67 too... Keep it in that holder and it should get them--Milk spots come from 2 things.... #1..you can help this...a washing at the mint of the blank planchet #2..spit or water from your mouth when you look at the coin...it falls on the coin and therefor later down the line can look like the milk spots...BUT most of the time its #1 and that can happen even if its in a slab...I have a 2004 NGC MS69 that after about 2 months had 2 milk spots come up... Just try to keep your mouth closed, and swallow often. But seriously, sometimes even breathe can cause brief condensation.
