I decided that I wanted to upgrade my type Peace dollar to a higher grade, and was very surprised to find 1922 and 1923 examples (in NGC and ANACs MS64 slabs) for under $50. Why are these trading for such low prices? Is the Peace dollar really such an unloved coin (at least, for the moment)?

Cause those are very common, there are thousand of thousands certified in that grade, much more uncertified out there.

Peace dollars are honestly just a dime a dozen in 64, higher grades get more expensive but you can get 65's for under a few hundred dollars as well for most of the dates

So, would you say that the collectible popularity of the Peace Dollar is depressing prices of these? Odd.

It doesn't really matter if there was many made. If you like the coin, get it. I should get one at that price!
