ket of whatever for free, and assume no metal or collector value.

It always used to be the dime as the obvious pick.

Now with the useless small dead POTUS dollar coin or even the SBA or Sac $. Do you pick small dollars or dimes ?

I guess with any US coin, gold dollars would be the choice....face value only...Anything beat that coin ?

Proof silver 3 cent pieces. you'd have a couple million of them. if 1854, and they made that many, you'd have 28 billion dollars.
If you could get that many 1849 C gold dollar open wreaths
    1 trillion 600 billion dollars.
    Just sayin'.

Hrmmm interesting exercise... If you are just talking about circulating coinage then yes I believe the gold dollars would win.

But since you did not specify circulating coinage I nominate the $50 Gold Eagle bullion coin. Please sign me up for (1) 55 gallon drum full... :D

Current coin of the era as face value only.

Fill up your F-150 truckbed with dimes or dead POTUS dollars..Disregard that the weight can't be pulled.

How about somebody doing some math and telling me the face value difference in a cubic foot of dead POTUS dollars vs. clad dimes ?

I 'm thinking the dollars are better. must be ?

I thought I was pretty clear about what I was saying.

The same volume of Dead POTUS dollars or dimes just on face value....OK fill up my F-150 , but that would be too heavy to haul and my tires would pop, yada3...not the point.

Dollars or dimes ? Dollars pretty easily for me. Anybody have a conversion estimate ?

The Platinum Eagles have a face value of $100. I don't know the math, but I'm sure a single Platinum Eagle takes up way less space than 1000 dimes.

I'd have to go with the '33 Double Eagles. I didn't go with the 1849 $20 gold pattern because those have never been to the market. However, a '33 Double Eagle has...

    I agree!

However, it was for melt value, gold eagles/buffalos (999 gold, unlike .900 for the double eagles)

But my opinion, the Double Eagles in MS.

Working with just common date modern coinage the answer is either dimes or small size dollars. If it wasn't for the small size dollars I would give the nod to the dimes because the smaller dimes can be packed closer together. The small dollars can't be packed as close as the dimes I think the space wastage is about four times higher, bu the coins are worth ten times as much. Thake would seem to favor the small dollars.
