Do scratches on a PCGS slab affect the price of a coin? I'm trying to sell a proof graded Franklin half on ebay and even though the scratches on the plastic aren't too bad, I got a message from a bidder who was concerned about the scratches affecting the value of the coin.

While I have no personal experience with this, I have heard of folks buffing out scratches on slabs. Hopefully someone with real experience with this will chime in on the best method.

On this coin you can barely see the scratches. They show up better on the ebay pictures. I was wondering about what deep scratches would do to the price of a slab.

Type SLAB-RENEW into eBay search. Every slab that comes through the door gets cleaned up and then photographed. Teletrade has the most beat up slabs and all the scratches are dead center and often deep.

There are other household products that do the same as the slab renew however I have never used them and don't want to steer you wrong by guessing. Point is that those other polishing compounds are cheaper.
