Hi Guys im looking for someone who knows a little about the value of this coin and even if anyone is interested in buying it from me. I am looking at buying a gold rolex, omega or breitling so anyone with one of those I would happily trade. If not im looking to raise the funds so my beloved coin is going to have to go. All though I fear I may one day regret this as i fell this coin is only going to be worth more and more as time goes on.
From what i have seen they were minted in 1976 by the UAE. it was minted as a bullion coin. so it would basically be worth it's weight in gold if you can find someone to pay it. 40 grams is about 1.5 ounces so it is worth about 2000 dollars give or take. condition might come into play as well. i am just going by basic numbers.
no offence but that's rubbish you cant go off the spot for all coins even if they originaly intended for bullion.
You asked. sorry you don't like the answer. it was a bullion coin. it has no value other than it's gold content. on top of that it is only 25 years old. no one is going to pay more than the weight of gold for it. maybe if you hold onto it or pass it to your kids and it gets to be 100+ years old then it will carry a premium of some kind. until then it is worth it's weight in gold no more. I found one auction site that has this coin listed. it is listed at 10000 AED when converted to US dollars it is about 2,700. that is what the person wants that is not what he is going to get. which is not much more than that 2000 that i quoted. most people are offering 1300-1600 for that coin. which would be more in line with the spot price that i posted.
