I couldn't resist posting these they're so unusual. At one time I collected wooden money in a big way, but not anymore. I still have my collection of about 4,500 pieces though including nickel size, dollar size, flats, and oddball stuff like this. Everything in my collection is coin related. They're all issues of clubs, organizations (ANA), collectors or dealers. I thought it would be fun to post these. It's ironic, but I don't own a "regular" U.S. Mint set.

Those are nice, Bruce. I still have a bunch of wooden nickels that bars and taverns typically gave to customers.

I'm wondering if the Kennedy half is 60% balsa, 40% oak?

I couldn't be so lucky (?) to have a 40% oak Kennedy stroligep. I hear they trade at a real premium.

Some wooden nickels, like yours, are real collectable Chris, There's no big money in woods, but they're fun to collect.

No, but if they left the bark on it could still be 40% clad.

I've got the '65 mint set and a few of the coin show medals.

Like the wood- where did you get them?

The 1968 probably is in PVC, but it might mess up its value if I take it out of its original holder. I was counting on selling this baby for big bucks in a few years and buying a chalet in Switzerland.....or maybe just a cup of coffee.

I bought them from a collector in Steelton, PA about 6 or 7 years ago. I don't remember what I paid for them, but probably 3 or 4 dollars a piece.
