I was in the Navy a while back, and while in Bahrain I picked up some money. (Probably while drunk considering their value) They are 20 dinars. The problem is that now I cannot exchange them, and they are worth quite a bit. Anyone know anything about these, and why I am stuck with them?
I can tell you why you're stuck with them, because somehow in a daze of being in a hot environment on an assignment for the USA Govt, you obtained this currency:secret: If you are having difficulty exchanging them, sell them off on eBay, you might or might not get the exchange value, but you will get a lot more there than anywhere else outside of the Middle East.
You could exchange them with Bank of America if you open an account. Although Im a bit confused on the value . The conversion for 20 Bahrain Dinar is only about 53$ USD. 20.00 BHD Bahrain Dinars = 52.8583 USD United States Dollars 1 BHD = 2.64292 USD 1 USD = 0.378370 BHD http://www.bankofamerica.com/foreigncurrency/
Well, I'm thinking of it as having over $100 that I can't do squat with, then it seems like a lot. I've tried taking it to the bank, and got turned down, but not the Bank of America. I'll give it a shot, thanks.
If Bank of America - like most major banks - will only convert currency for account holders there is an alternative. In the terminal at your nearest international airport there is sure to be at least one money-changer, such as Deak-Perera. Generally their exchange rates are much worse than what you find on the internet, but for small amounts of foreign currency, it's often the only game in town. (None of them exchange coins.) Good luck! :smile
You could always look on the bright side also: You dont have about 3000 dinar with saddams head on it lol I thought I transfered all of my Iraqi dinar to the new money while I was there and found a stash when I finally came home. The stuff isnt even going hot on Ebay last I saw. c'est la vie
