I'm really happy for you and jealous . I haven't had a good find in a while but, im happy with what i get!! Happy Roll Hunting guys!
I feel a little sorry for "the elderly man" who turned in over forty 90% silver half dollars and walked away with $30 instead of over $400.
iGradeMS70 I hate you...in the best possible way lol thats a great find and you have made me jealous haha and my mom is very supportive of my hobby too... but too bad she isn't as coin "street smart" as your mom...my mom wouldn't know a Walking Liberty from a Mercury Dime if it jumped up in her face and sang God Bless America lol
as did i my friend...and if i were to find him one day, i would gladly return it all , hopefully he'd at least share a little if i were to actually do this , lol!
Yeah im not the biggest of putting Videos out there but hey if more people knew about roll searching then I probably wouldnt of found this lol........this is a post from back in 3-13-08
I Won The Lottery Well as most you guys and girls now Im very new to this forum, and coin collecting in general. I was always looking for ASE and stuff like that to collect, because I really didnt know what else to collect. One day i was in a coin store when I over hear a guy talking about going through boxes of halves and looking for silver. I started with a few boxes and maybe for 5 kennedy halves that were 40% and one toasted liberty......To make a long story short I was in line at the bank today just depositing a check for my two boxes of halves that are coming in tomorrow, and I over heard a girl talk about a woman that brought in a really old tool box full of half dollars. Here exact words were " the were SO ugly and looked so old" then my ears perked up. Now two of the girls there know that I just started collecting so they put stuff on the side for me.....well today i just had to buy the whole bag of halves that they counted for the day.My hands were shaking and my heart was racing. Im like GOD PLEASE LET THIS ALL BE SILVER. I know as a beginner coin collector it feels better to find it then buy it. 1 BANK BAG of halves is $1000, or 2000 coins. Well since 510pm today I have been seperating them by years and this is what I got. Out of 2000 coins 1053 were SILVER 1963 Franklin ( 1 ) 1964 Kennedy ( 89 ) 1965--- (40) 1966---(72) 1967--- (350) 1968---(345 ) 1969--- (156 ) I think this will go in the record books. Im going to go back tomorrow and get the other bag and wait on the 2 new boxes. What would all this silver sell for? You guys have been great with all your advise and direction. Thanks again Read more: http://www.cointalk.com/showthread.php?t=34809&page=2#ixzz1DRanhbMn
If you scroll down to the bottom of the link youll see all the boxes of halves.....of course I wish I didnt sell them on ebay a few days later but I really needed the money. too bad cause im sure I could of gotten over 6k now. Oh well let the search continue
These two I found in a hoard of Kennedy's my wife tossed back over the years from what she got in circulation; The one on the right has a die chip that looks just like an extra olive on the branch. Both are 1964s. I saved all the silver I could find from 1970 to date. gary
Love the graphics on this post. I should have done that when I had my big find http://www.cointalk.com/t109004/ I also once got $50 in halves and 59 of them where 1964 and 30 of them were 40%, the rest were unc 1976 (clad). Clearly someone cashed in a personal stash. I've had numerous other finds but not so much lately.
I agree with you....Glad you found these...Don't worry about the grumpy people giving you a hard time...Wish I had more time to do this....Now go find some more and have fun!
A lot have made comments about Merc Crazy's previous posts, as many have commented on some of mine. Thankfully this forum does allow a certain amount of differing opinions. I simply cannot imagine that I would wish to participate if all disagreement were banned. Cajole, argue, demean (within limits of course), applaud, encourage, express, etc. This is what keeps me coming around. No matter how you slice it, it beats Judge Judy. Interaction here is very important to many of us who have very limited contact with others. As long as it's kept clean and non-threatening with no absurd abuse, let us all enjoy every aspect of it.
