I found this 1889-O Morgan dollar when I was Vam-hunting on Ebay. I don't have it in-hand yet, but it looks like a mis-aligned die error. Charlie
It could be. It looks like it has a descent amount of room to move around in it's case though. Good luck.
Very cool! It looks broadstruck. Check the mint mark on the reverse. Most 89-O Morgans used a round O. The 1889-O "oval O" Morgan is a Top 100 coin.
I got this coin today, and it wasn't a error. The angle of the picture just made it look that way.:headbang: Charlie
That suprises me. I had this coin pegged as MAD. Proves the point that buying online is a turkey shoot and buyer beware.
Come on Charlie, I want to see a picture of the 89-O that you received. The picture in your first post shows a broadstruck coin. I don't see how a different angle could create that perfect extra rim area with cellophane still showing between the coin and the cardboard. I've bought too many coins with imaginary die gouges, but I need you to convince me that you got the same coin in the picture! Please.
