I found a 2000 p Roosevelt dime with a 2.1 g weight. Is this common? It has a grove in the reed all the way around. I am a newbie so I have to check everything. Hope you can help.

Link goes to a page with nothing on it.

The groove all the way around on the edge is the key clue here. It has had an extended soak in a weak acid that has dissolved away some of the metal of the coin and it has attacked the copper more strongly than the coppernickel. Hence the groove.

The dime is a MS-60. If it had been in acid wouldn't there be flatening of all the images?

I have read this and some other information on coin weights, but thank you for taking the time to read my post.
