Hey guys, Just had a sweet pick of a loaded dansco Jefferson album with some sweet looking coins. I wanted to upload some pics of the 39-D to see what you guys think of it. The coin has a nice tone to it but it does have some "issues" on the reverse. So what do you guys think of the condition? I think it looks great but have a hard time grading coins, I tried comparing to the pics on the PCGS photograde but have a hard time trying to pick the best match. Sorry for all the pics but I was trying to get as many angles as possible! Thanks in advance guys!!
You have a 1939-D Rev of 40 Jefferson Nickel in XF condition but it has active PVC on the reverse. Someone will be along shortly to tell you how to remove it. It might be worth $5-$10.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyvinyl_chloride its something that PURE acetone can generally help you with. I will let others chime in with the rest of the story.. : ) I agree with the XF grade and the PVC growth factor.
there are some other coins that show a consistent pattern of damage. Should I take all coins out of the binder and store them elsewhere? There is still a good amount of coins that show no damage whatsoever.
Being in a Dansco album as far as I know they are PVC free so, that would lead me to believe that whom ever he bought them from had them in bad flips/album before insertion into the dansco
