a risque token

i found this token on wednesday and i found out that it was a french brothel token from 1900, has anyone else found these?

Yes I have several, they are made of embossed card and coated with brass, very light.

If you were found in the vicinity of a brothel with large amounts of cash upon your person

you went to jail for soliciting for prostitution, so the madames produced tokens for ice cream and

other innocent stuff which were exchanged for cash.

The token was then tendered to the prostitute for payment of services rendered.

I have never spent any of these tokens and I don't have any in my collection.

at a flea market in a box of assorted coins and tokens, and because of my penchant for french coins and bank notes i just had to have it. and the cost.................10 pence.

Many "brothel tokens" are fantasy tokens made for tourists.
