I want to find another way to get wheat pennies other then eBay, those bidders are wild:confused:! Is there any other ways to get some?

  3. Try your local coin dealer. You can usually get rolls of cents from the 40's and 50's for $2.50

    Never knew that!

  5. I didn't until the other day. I was telling him about a lot of wheat cents I bought on Ebay, and he told me that he sells rolls for $2.50 each. The guy I bought the lot from was a bit more expensive ($40 for 630 cents), but there were more mixed dates in it. I could give you his name if you'd like. He usually just sells them, rather than auctioning

Does the guy have smaller lots? Does he just sell them or auctions them online occasionally? I can't really travel that much.

  7. I'll check. I know he ships anywhere in the US. Most of his stuff is "Buy It Now"

  8. Darn, he doesn't have anything for sale as of now. Well, what you could do is look for "wheat penny lot", under "Buy It Now". Most coin dealers sell them at decent rates. Steel pennies are usually more pricey. You should usually aim to spend no more than 7-8 cents per wheatie

i know a dealer that was selling $50 bags of wheats but i never asked what they cost. in any case your best bet is a local dealer.

Good pint Derekg, I live in the sticks and don't have a decent coin dealer within 80-100 miles. I also am getting so tired of the Never Searched deals on ebay. wish someone had something better. But for now I guess this will do

I know of a good seller who sells rolls with some pretty decent dates. (At least from the ones I got). There were multiple indians and teens in each roll. Let me know if your interested. They's also pretty cheap. He's my go to guy when I have holes that need to be filled.
