Lower Market Value of 1999 Proof Sets

    I was reviewing some of my old threads and noticed your response on the eventual rebound of 1999 silver proof sets. As much as I hoped that you were right, they are now selling at between $160-$170 on the bay. I took a bath on this one!!!

    History repeats itself, always has and always will. But you'll never get some people to believe that because people will only believe what they want to believe.

    I think I said it before, but I'll say it again...

    Watch out for those on ebay. Many of them have had the coins replaced with clad coins.

    I tried that with a 1968 proof set in a sunlit room. The 40% half was indeed white, while the clad coins were a dull gray.

    if you think that 1968 was easy to spot try it with 1964 and before! Or even a current silver proof set.
