ok .. I put a coin on ebay..that I thought was the true thing.. then someone wrote and ask me how sure I was.. well... { I took it off } seem's I was sure but maybe wrong.. soooo now I have one I want to ask about first.. Do You see this coin with any errors? If so tell me about it so I may better understand. {before I fudge up again} thanks:smile
Hi, I agree with the rim CUD but I woukld Love to see a more clear image of the date. Actually, we are up to about 12 (at least 11) different doubled die varieties on 1972 cents. This Includes a 1972-S Business strike DDO that I discovered and had attributed as new by John Wexler a few years ago. This one in this post looks like it might be one of the very minor varieties but with the picture being so fuzzy, It's tough to be sure. Thanks, Bill
Wish I could have got a better scan for you, but they all look about the same. Guess when I put it on ebay, I'll just say 72 with cud.. would it be wrong to say could be one of the many doubled die varieties? Thanks again for Looking at it..
Hi, I always think it's better to list a coin with exactly what we know about it. I would list it as a 1972 Cud and let it go at that. I really wouldn't even put this one on ebay as it is very minor. As far as the doubling I lean toward mechanical doubling as even in the scan as it is, there appears to be some damage on the numerals. That's just my thought on it. Also, In the case of a circulated CUD, you probably won't top the $1.00 mark unless the buyer is unaware of the value of these kinds of errors. Have Fun, Bill PS: Thanks for trying to get a better scan!
