I have the above coin found among a batch of bulk coins purchased from my local coin dealer. It is silver in color, 25mm in diameter, and appears to have Japanese writing. I'm guessing some sort of Japanese gaming token, but would like someone's opinion that is more familiar with these things. I've been getting a lot of these in the coins I buy from the bulk box, so I have started a tokens collection as well. If they are gaming tokens, Pretty soon I'll be prepared to take a trip to Japan and play for awhile...:smile

Any help identify this coin is appreciated...Regards, Bill

Yet another Japanese game parlor token-- "King's Crown"

Thankyou for the reply. Not being able to read Japanese makes identifying these coins/tokens very difficult. I presume the "Kings's Crown" refers to the name of the gaming parlor. Again, Thanks, Bill

Yes, "King's Crown" is likely the name of the gaming parlor.

Here is a Japanese blog that discusses game parlors and some of the tokens that are used there. Nearly all of the tokens have the same design on front and back. Although you say you can't read Japanese, the pictures should at least help you to get a feeling for where these tokens are used. :)

And here's a picture of a "medal game" where players try to win "medals" (tokens) for playing other games.
