1900-O Morgan Dollar with Large Raised "V" on Cheek

    Please take a look at the photo's provided and help me find out what is going on with the coin. It shows a scratch on the cheek and then a Perfect Upsidedown V raised on the Cheek.

    Razor blade damage. There was another one like it last week.

    Can you be more specific? all the area around the V seems to be un touched and the V is Raised and almost perfectly symmetrical, a

    I think a razorblade would carve into the coin, how would it make it raised?

    Where would the metal that is "carved" go? It would go up.

    At any rate, this exact same thing was discussed in another thread, and the consensus was that this was post-mint damage.

    If it is raised, it may be struck through a piece of wire or metal shaving.

    You are right, struck through a wire would be flat. I plead cranial flatulence.

    Looks man made to me. The "V" was formed after the scratch was on the coin...
