Please take a look at the photo's provided and help me find out what is going on with the coin. It shows a scratch on the cheek and then a Perfect Upsidedown V raised on the Cheek.

    Thanks Image79.jpg Image77.jpg Image76.jpg

Looks like post-mint damage to me-- the rut alongside the right part of the V indicates to me that someone dug into the coin after it left the mint.

The area around the V seems to be un touched and the V is Raised and almost perfectly symmetrical. Also look at the horizontal scratch underneath the V, it seems to run across both parts of the v as if the v was stamped on after.

  5. Sorry, but it's PMD. It probably bashed into something and got cut. The second picture clearly shows that it's PMD

its not a cut, it is a raised amount on top. It seems to perfect to be a mistake. also if you bash into something it shouldn't add material to the coin. also what does PMD stand for?
    Thanks for any more info,

post mint damage=PMD Yup, you got an upside down V there . No way to say what or how that damage occurred . One thing for certain though, it's PMD .

In other words, someone deliberately did that to the coin after it left the Mint, making it post-mint damage. Unfortunately, post-mint damage usually decreases the value of a coin.
