nice pickups, id kill to find proofs for low prices like that. imma have to look harder next flea market i go to
Nice Panama proof coins with only 14,000 minted those coins were made at the San Fransico mint on normal US coin blanks you should be able to see the clad layers on these
1936 British florin in the 5x for a dollar bin?.... for .20 cents? Wow, great find! Very nice Panama Proofs too. I also like the NZ coins. I once found some Austria 1960s Proofs in the 5x for a dollar bin at my local coin shop in Tucson, and have found plenty of smaller world silver coins over the years like a 1960 Liberia 90% silver 25 cents, two 1953 El Salvador 90% silver 25c, one El Salvador 90% 50 centavos, and several Philippines 1944 and 1945 75% silver 20 and 10 centavos, a Panama 1953 1/10th Balboa, 90%.... but this is over several years of coin shop visits.
slamster 17- .1818 ASW didn't know until I got home BONUS snowman- the edge is what caught my eye. The rim is as bright as the surfaces on the centesimo thanks for the comments everyone!
For the first 5 years I collected, everything I bought came out of a 5 for a $1 box. I built up quite a collection that way. Now with kids and a wife and a real job and a house and a dog and ..... I don't have the spare time to go someplace and find one of those boxes.
Alright, you all got me started down memory lane. My most memorable find in the 5 for a $1 bin was a 1904 Liberia 50c. I love that coin, mintage of 24,000. My best was a 50 Pfennig from Germany, early 1900's. I don't remember the exact date, but I remember getting $225 for it on ebay a few months ago.
Good pickups there! The bins in my neck of the woods tend to be 10/$1, but it's been ages since I found any silver. There are occasional low denomination Caribbean proofs from busted sets, but the real interest for me is in finding low grade but rare coins.
