I understood you had these. Still was worth congratulating that you had put these all together. I really admire seeing them, and miss how Rick would post a whole slew of notes like this too. Great work! I bet Zeplyn's gonna bug-out when he sees these. :)

Very nice! What's the skinny on the two different greens? And are there no $1's just because you didn't post any?

i have always liked the looks of the numeral notes. they seem to be getting harder to find

Dave, i dont believe there was any particular reason why they had two different color seals. they were used on the 1928 A series continued through the 1934 series notes. in 1928 the dark green seal was closer to a forest green and the light green seal was just that a light yellowish green seal. in 1934 notes the light green has more yellow in it and is lighter than the 1928 notes. the dark green seals in 1934 had more blue added to them. when i post the 1934 series notes i have you will be able to see the difference. as far as why i havent posted any 1's is because they didnt use the regular green seals back then. thats when the 1928 red seal legal tender notes where first released. this is also the time when the blue seal silver certificates appeared. they also have the short lived brown seal hawaii silver certificates along with the yellow seal north africa silver certificates. it wasnt until 1963 series that they reverted back to the green seal they use today. here are a few examples of each

1928 $1 LEGAL TENDER *RED SEAL*
    [IMG]

    1928 B $1 SILVER CERTIFICATE *BLUE SEAL*
    [IMG]

1935 A $1 HAWAII SILVER CERTIFICATE *BROWN SEAL*
    [IMG]

1934 A $1 NORTH AFRICA SILVER CERTIFICATE *YELLOW SEAL*

Thanks for the details Urban, it sounds like 1928 was quite the period of change! And Zeplyn, I look forward to your presentation and any more details on the greens :D:too-cool-for::greensmile::missing-tooth::brush-teeth::angelic2::u*meY:

Unfortunately Rick did not leave them up! :( For those of us that were fortunate enough to see them while they were up we were really privileged to see some of the best notes in their grade! Most of these notes reside in private collections that are kept private. Notes that have a recorded history of ownership are not notes you get to see very often!
