It's really neat to see youngin's comming into my place of work and interested in collecting. I'm going through my Canadian coins coincidently right now counting my wealth and searching for rare ones. I've been collecting all foreign money in hopes to spend it there one day. I'd love to sell someone my canadian when I'm just about to visit ^^ My guess is seventy.
That's a great thing, its always good to start young. To be honest, I have never found a Canadian cent in circulation. Even when I visited family in the mainland, Colorado. Congrats Phillip!
Sorry i hadn't replied sooner..been out of town and w/o internet for the weekend. Lee, Man..thanks SOOOO much for posting those pictures. The smile on that young man's face...over COINS no less...is one in a million. Really made my weekend, man. Wish Phillip the best of luck in continuing his pursuit of that set for me!
PM me, and let me know what else he needs. Im in Toronto, and I got tubes and tubes of Canadian small cents.
Hi everyone- sorry to revive this old thread, but another cool thing has happened: Another Cointalk member has sent Phillip some more coins! So, I have to post some more pictures. Phillip doesn't know what the internet is yet, but he sure thinks getting stuff in the mail unexpected is fun! Martin (aka Dollar1948 of Ontario) sent Phillip a package. My wife held it for a couple of weeks while I was deployed (I'm in the USAF). I got home today and I let him open it up and add to his Canadian cent collection. Martin, thanks a bunch! You made his day. There was an extra set of coins from 2005 about a disabled Canadian runner, Terry Fox. I explained to Phillip the significance of the young man- he passed in 1981. It was also kinda neat while Phillip looked at each coin he said, "Why is this lady on all the coins?" We are a bit short on Queens here in Tennessee. PS - The wine glass in the photos is my wife's, I'm not loading up a six year old! (she's out of the pics fixing dinner) Lee
Thanks for the pics and keeping us all informed on progress. They are an absolute joy to look at, making me smile, laugh and, I have to admit, bringing a tear to my eye. Neither of my kids have taken up the baton but I hope to get my (nearly) 6 year old grandson interested some day. Unforntunately we're separated by some 6,000 miles but he should be old enough to start corrupting the next time he comes out. All the best to you and to Phillip. You are two lucky guys. Vic
Thanks for sharing those. I don't know about anyone else, but i'm having as much fun watching Phillip put set together as I've ever had working on one of my own! Thanks!
Yea, I get a charge out of this..it's nice to see the enjoyment it brings Phillip...and collecting Canadian coinage (foreign coinage for him) makes it especially captivating to watch.
Being a long time collector from circulation, I have been able to find every Canadian small cent in circulation since they were first minted in 1920. It is a great challenge and a terrific collection for your son. It looks like he is having a wonderful time!
