You could not find any because Malta has (as far as I know) never issued a JFK coin. The highest pre-euro denomination for a Maltese coin was 25 liri (gold) ... Ah, here is another one - "from" Mongolia: http://www.newyorkmint.com/item/John_F_Kennedy_Talking_Coin_Ich_Bin_Ein_Berliner/1802746 Apparently this "coin" will even play those words ... Christian
Thanks, Christian... Three different sites (including Wikipedia) list Malta, but none I found listed Mongolia. Sure is a nice looking coin... Clinker
As for Malta, I am not quite happy yet. Malta never issued "liras" denominated coins; however, there are various orders (and pseudo-orders) that also have "Malta" in their names. The SMOM http://www.orderofmalta.org/?lang=en issues coins (as fundraisers) denominated in scudi and tari, so that can't be it. There is also an organization called Sovrano Ospedaliero Ordine di Malta, and they actually issue lots of pieces in "liras". Here is one featuring John F. Kennedy - not gold but 500 liras (2004): http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270594824951 So I guess this "Sovrano Ospedaliero Ordine ..." also issued the 2001 piece you mentioned. This is not the same organization as the SMOM in Rome, however. Cannot tell whether they are legitimate or not. Christian
