For what it is worth, I am new here and new to paper money.
I have found that my interests were narrow 2 weeks ago. By reading about and becoming involved in personal research on banknotes there is just so much available to anyone out there. What I am saying is I have spent $49 on 1 banknote and about $75 on 4 books now. I am getting so much from the books that I feel like I will be able to direct the area of my interest in a method that will allow me to understand what it will take to embark upon trying to assemble banknotes. Just from reading about these 4th issue fractionals, there are many varieties that would entail a collector to be in pursuit of these for quite a while and perhaps at significant expense depending on personal taste for quality.
Just wanted to share with you something I learned in the past few days. Hope it is ok for me to post this for you?

i've got two 10 cent notes one is like the OP posted and the other has a portrait of i think george washington, are the fractionals valuable?

Chris - you and me both buddy! It's nice to come here and get to enjoy what others are willing to share!

Moneyer - depends on rarity and condition. We would have to good pictures to tell either. In circulated condition most fractionals can be picked up at reasonable prices. The 15 cent 4th issue note I want to add is probably going to cost close to 200 in the condition I am hoping for. That is 5 times what I paid for the 10 cent note.

    Thanks and BR ~ Darryl

Certainly they can be. Why not post scans of your notes and lets see what you've got? If the Washington is the 5¢ denomination I'm thinking of with a heavy oval printed around the portrait, there was just recently a thread on that issue.

Maybe you can start a new thread for us to discuss your notes in? I'd love to see them.

Thanks. Scans are better than camera pics for notes anyway. Looking forward to seeing them.

 LOL! Nothing is wrong them. Scans just get that flat straight-on look without any keystone-effect. Plenty goes wrong with scans if the settings aren't just so. :smile
