Is this a cud? It's not indented in the area of question (U in United). It just looks like a blob of extra metal.

If you're talking about the spot at around 9:00, I think the depression on the edge indicates pmd where it was schmucked by something.

  4. Looks like PMD to me, but I could be mistaken. It's kinda hard to tell

This kind of post mint damage is not unlikely on this old coin. Most likely, it was hit with something. But, It could also be die erosion, or rust, on this one spot of the die that may have seen an attempt to repair it. It's just my opinion of a possible reason for this coins' state. I don't see a cud here at all.

If this is a cud, you'd see a corresponding lack of metal on the reverse side. (In most cases).
Post a photo of the reverse for us to look at. Maybe we can see a telltale lack of metal opposite the "cud".

Thanks for the responses. I see that the edge there is showing a little flat, which leads me to believe this is PMD a well. Here is a pic of the reverse.

I did notice the denticles are sharp on the right side of the reverse, while they are nearly non-existent on the opposite side. The side where there are no denticles is the side where the cud or PMD.
