Yesterday I took my first job, which involved working at a dealer's table at a local show. I bought some stuff while I was there, too! I bought: -(1) 1949 Central Bank of the Philippines 20 Peso note for $1.00. -(1) 2011-S Proof Cent for $2.00. -(1) 2011-S Proof Nickel for $2.00. -(1) 2011-S Proof Dime for $2.00. -(2) 1/10 ounce Silver Bullion "Coins" for $4.50 each. -(1) 2011 BU Silver Eagle for $32.00. -(1) 1975, 1976, 1976-D, 1977, 1977-D, 1978-D, 1979, 1979-D, 1980-P, 1980-D, 1981-P, and 1981-D BU Dimes for $10.00. -(1) 1941-D, 1955, 1955-D, 1956-D, 1959-D, 1960 Large Date, 1960 Small Date, 1960-D Small Date, 1961, 1962, 1962-D, 1964-D, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1968-D, 1968-S, 1972-S, 1975-S, 1978-S, 1979-S Type 1, 1981-S Type 1, 1983-S, 1984-S, 1992-S, 1995-S, 2010-D, and 2011-S BU and PR Cents for $20.00. -(1) 1964 Kennedy Half, PR-66 by NGC (New EdgeView holder) for $18.00. -(1) 1887 Morgan Dollar, MS-64 by PCGS for $45.00. How do you think I did? I spent $141. Pics to follow soon.
From your enthusiastic post, it sounds like you are having a lot of fun so keep it up. Post some photos when you can. What is your favorite area of interest?
That's a lotta stuff. Nice price on that Morgan, BTW... can't seem to find any MS64's for under 60 around here... maybe at a show?
Favorite areas of interest are all U.S. Coins and Currency, and Philippines coins and currency when they were a U.S. territory. My next buy will probably be at the next show: a 1917 $2 United States Note of 1922 $10 Gold Certificate.
I got some Philippine coins while at the FUN show earlier this month. I don't have them in front of me but as I recall, the Aluminum 1/2 Centavo and 1 Peso coins were dated 1913 and the CuNi 1-Peso was dated 1925. All three coins are from the Culion Leprosy colony. The 1913 Aluminum 1-Peso is a new coin for my collection. The other two are upgrades.
Glad to meet a fellow US Philippines collector. Do you have any holes in your collection that you're looking to fill? The vast majority of my Territorial collection is on the common dates, but I have some duplication in the harder to find dates. 2 weekends ago, I ran into a dealer with 10 x 1906 20 centavos in EF45 or better that he was selling for a little over melt. I picked out the 3 best (including a possible die break) and had to let the rest go due to limited funds. Maybe we can share wish lists and help each other out.
