I picked this up at the Westchester NY coin show this last weekend. It is an 1886 2-Centime from Haiti. It is about the size of a US 2-cent piece.

I personally have never seen one this nice before. If I morph-it into a USA-2 cent piece, (which I have seen before) then I would grade it a MS64 RB. Has anyone at CT ever seen one this nice before?

The KM catalog does price this coin in circulated grades, UNC and BU. The prices range from $7 to $400. The BU price is about 8x the price for an UNC example. Obviously, I want to know where this coin falls into the spectrum between $7 and $400. Please let me know what you guys think of the coin.

P.S. The mint mark is "A" which means the coin was made at the Paris mint.

I only have one other high grade Haiti coin to share. It was previously posted here:
    http://www.cointalk.com/t112497/
and is the copper-nickel coin at the center of this photo.

This 5 Centimes coin is dated 1904. I was wondering how a 1904 Haiti coin would find its way to Connecticut in such good shape. This particular Haiti coin was minted in Waterbury Connecticut.

    Post your coins from Haiti.

OK you may think I'm being silly but I just sent this Haiti 2 Centime to NGC. It was a multi-faceted decision.

    (1) I wanted to protect this gem for future generations. (2) I wouldn't want the coin to be lost in my world collection & have my heirs to overlook it. (3) I'm darn curious what the TPG opinion will be [as nobody gave an opinion from CT]. (4) It was one of many coins submitted & with my picking-up the coins, the total encapsulation cost is minimal.

I should pick-up the coin at FUN.

The submission was not ready for pick-up at FUN. It is on its way back to me by mail right now. I'll post the NGC grade when it arrives.

    I expected a 64RB but I will settle for this 65RB.

    Nice!

Very nice, that is a beautiful coin. I surely wouldn't consider sending a nice piece like that in to NGC for grading as being 'silly'. :) Also the example of your 1904 5c you show in the other thread is also very nice, along with the coins surrounding it. Nice photos.

You said to post Haitian coin pics... I have only one coin from Haiti, in somewhat poor shape as well, and my old photos of it have a bad yellow-greenish tint to the photos. Here is the reverse, I always liked this design of these types of coins of Haiti, the cannons with piles of cannonballs next to them at the ready, the flags above and the palm in the center.... very nice design.
