Here is a 1808 Capped Bust Half which I needed to help complete my collection of the series. Remember, I'm TRYing to do this with coins all under $100. This one was just a smidge over ;) What grade would you give it?

    Thanks

I think I'll go VG10 on that one Bone...maybe F12 though. F12 because it's just a darn nice looking coin. I like that you can see the centers of many of the stars. Your coin has very nice toning and eye appeal in my opinion. I prefer the bust halves that have that nice medium grey color like yours has. Great coin!

I think you would get a fine on this one. There seems to be a bit of willingness to overlook certain things (like the gash in the neck) on the older coins. In general, nice detailing remaining on the stars, about half the detail in the feathers, no clasp showing on the neck... and some old scratches above the head. Really a pretty clear F to me. No better, but I'd not think it would drop to a VG. Great original coin!

Actually, this looks like a 1808 over 7. What do you think?

You're right, it does look like the overdate variety. I missed that before. Even better!

Nice Original, The only distracting thing is the scratches behind the cap and on the neck.
Bust Halves are my Favorite coins.

Two dates are still eluding me now. A relatively easy to acquire 1810 and the $$$1815$$$.

    Take care
