Who would have Thought ? Orders have been taken that meet the mintage limits for the Benjamin Franklin Commemorative Coins (except for the 50,000 Founding Father proof coins being held for the 2006 United States Mint American Legacy Collection™). We are continuing to take orders. BF commem Makes me wish I had bought more than I did. Oh well, I ordered one of each in proof and unc. At least I will have them to enjoy.
Eds,I think a lot of people knew,or at least suspected, that this would be another 2 week sellout. In fact,I seem to remember several people stating that here on this forum. I managed to slip under the wire about a week ago and ordered one proof of each.My experience tells me that I now have about an 80% chance of getting them without being cancelled.
it's a trick it's a trick by business people trying to sell the unsold stubs. u.s.mint is one of them. sold out is sold out. if there is a problem on some orders. the number of coins will be very very few. by the annoucement they made and still accepting orders. man, it can generate ten of thousands new orders. thus, the mint can easily sell them all and declare sold out. another thing. price for sold out stub can go down to where it belong. because 500,000 or 250,000 mintage. the figures are quite high for modern commems. look at 1992 white house and 1993 thomas jefferson silver dollars. those coins were sold out too. once the price over $150.00. now it is around $30.00 plus. and the marine corp will soon go down too. time will tell.
Darn, wnated these too... though I know I can get them eventually. Since demand is so high right now, getting them from a third party dealer wll be way too expensive until the excitement cools down a bit, lol. I expect in maybe about a year or two I can get them for only slightly more than the mint was selling them for.
sold out?. tomorrow, monday, first working day, the mint might declare sold out. let's check the mint website.
Same here... I was intending on putting an order in after I got my next paycheck, figured they wouldn't sell out THAT fast. Oh well... will get them in a year or two as soon as prices are reasonable again, lol, they're bound to spike soon.
You're so right, Speedy! I've gotten several issues that I was certain I had no chance of getting. Do you think it's because people either don't pay or send back their orders? Sadly, I've also noticed that sometimes in your "orders" section of your account on-line that they'll post "expected to ship" a certain date, then change that date 10 times, before finally stating the issue is sold out! Now that really gets me where it hurts! I had this happen to me on the 2004 Westward Journey Coin and Medal Set. I ended up paying twice the price for it on ebay. :desk: Overall though I can't be too unhappy with the Mint, as I've gotten the best coin buys in my collection from them over the years. :smile
No more orders on the founding father accepted. Uh oh, it looks like I bet on the wrong one. :headbang: :desk:
The site no longer says the FF coin is no longer available. I don't think the on again off again actions on the mint site really mean anything. If you call the mint, the recording says all coins are no longer available.
my estimation mintages for b franklin silver dollars my estimated mintages for benjamin franklin silver dollars are as follows: scientist silver dollar proof: 158,250 scientist silver dollar unc: 41,650 scientist & chonicles set (unc): 49,900 founding father dollar proof: 170,600 founding father dollar unc: 29,300 founding father & legacy set (proof): 49,900 what are yours?. ps.....50,000 set for each chonicles and legacy set are not low as compared to uncirculated single piece scientist or founding father silver dollar.
would be interesting to know how many 100 coin orders etc. where filled. seems the mint is as interested in servicing coin dealers ,if not more, than the common joe. which is sad.
Since the chronicle set contains an UNC scientist dollar and the legacy set will contain a proof founding father dollar, it seems like the UNC founding father dollar would have the by far smallest mintage.
founding father unc - the lowest you're right. the founding father unc silver dollar might be the lowest mintage. and i think its price should be around $150.00 to $200.00.
Ben Franklin Dollars I am with you Tracy. It would be nice to see the FF unc mint dollar go to $150.00 and of course stay there. I am an optomist though and some people think it will take a dive shortly after the spike up. I hope they are wrong. Like I mentioned in another thread I invested a ton in this group and my only concern is that I bought enough. Good luck Ben!!!!!!!!!!!!! BWJR
