If you start a new post and include clear pictures of your dimes, there will be several people who will be glad to help you identify them :smile
China 1736-1795 cash coin Cast at the Board of Revenue mint in Yunnan Province during the Qian Long reign of Emperor Gao Zong. Very common. Gary
Top coin is genuine. It is a "struck" (not cast) coin produced at Guangzhou during the years 1890-1895 of the Guang Xu reign of Emperor De Zong of China. Very common. Bottom coin is a Chinese cash coin cast in Yunnan Province (Board of Revenue) during the years 1797-1818 of the Jia Qing reign of Emperor Ren Zong. Very common. Gary
You are right. I originally referenced a web site which listed the coin as Japanese, but I see now that my Japanese coin guide lists it as a coin that was imported into Japan in 1736.
That's the first time I've seen a struck cash coin, but you are right again, it does appear to be genuine, when compared to the coin shown in the middle top of this web page: http://nara.cool.ne.jp/uuu20/zh63/z2h02.htm I most humbly defer to your knowledge of Chinese cash coins.
without detailed cataloguing i would say that the bottom one in the first photo is an ottoman empire qirsh mainly used in egypt.
What should be the weight and size of the coin? I still have a bunch of other world coins that were mixed in with pennies that I ended up finding. I will try and post some more pictures later. Thanks again!
