So, I have this fugio cent that I'm trying to value and was trying to figure out what type it was using internet resources but have had no luck. I don't know much about coins and was, to say the least, very overwhelmed when trying to figure out what it was. Anyway, here's a photobucket picture of it that i've scanned and would -very much- appreciate your opinions as to what type it might be. Thanks:smile http://s1082.photobucket.com/albums/j372/ralphpeptide/?action=view¤t=fugiocent.jpg
I will leave the answering of your question to the more experienced folks, but welcome to Coin Talk!!!
My guess would be that that is a cast copy. There have been many copies made of those coins for various purposes. Where did you find / purchase the coin? I'm not an early cent expert though, and there are some on the forum who can probably tell you the exact die combination that was made to make any genuine Fugio cent. Oh, and welcome!
Welcome to the form. Looks legit to me, but I am also no expert on these. I used to have a site book marked that would help me identify them, but can't find it.
l.cutler is correct. It is a genuine Fugio cent variety Newman 18-H and still listed as a Rarity 5. Nice coin!
