Great time for this thread. Here's my first Top 100: 1921 VAM 1A Pitted Die. This die looks like someone took a Brillo pad to it: That's all raised - polishing lines. Wonderful coin. Here's a few more recent acquisitions: OK, experts, what's this one? Can you tell what I've been concentrating on lately?
VAM number Unique number assigned to each die combination of Morgan and Peace dollar known to the authors of The Complete Catalog and Encyclopedia of United States Morgan and Peace Silver Dollars. Called VAM because of the authors Leroy Van Allen and A. George Mallis. Charlie
Hey SuperDave, how about a full reverse shot of that 21-D 3A Streamer Wing? It looks like a very late die state.
SuperDave, your last coin looks like a 21-P 3K. What did I win? I like the 21-P 24A better (fomerly 3J)! Still looking for one of those.
1900-O VAM-29A. You were right about the 3K. It's in an NGC MS64 slab, unattributed. For your viewing pleasure, since you said you don't have one: The obverse is nicer than the NGC coin mentioned above. The Streamer: I just acquired a really interesting one - methinks it's an early die state 1921-P VAM-19A.
I have two Streamer Wings. Bought them raw and had them slabbed at ANACS. I've seen images of a few more. They only show the triangle shaped area between the right wing and the S. Yours looks like a VERY late die state.
