Does anybody know what this is. It was given to me and I have tried researching it but found nothing.

A 1973 Jefferson Nickel was elongated and stamped with the following saying.

"O Wilson Morgan alias Ye Old Hitch Hiker alias The Ramblin' Scribbler" ~ Picture of a thumb hitch hiking and Quill feather pen

    Attached are pictures.

    Thank You,

    Steve

It is an elongated coin (aka smashed coin). Usually coints are elongated but other denominations can also be elongated.

You may have seen elongated coin machines at tourist spots. For a fee (maybe 50 cents or 75 cents) you can elongate your coin with your choice of design. Many people collect elongated coins.

Elongates are a REALLY big thing to some.

I couldn't find anything either on "Wilson Morgan". He may have been a small town celebrity.
