Maybe larger pictures would help. My first thought was the pictures show no luster on a AU coin(slightest trace of wear), but the third picture down made me think cleaned. Then again I am do not study Jeff nickels.

Based on the third obverse photo, AU appears to be the correct grade.

AU-55 is what I figured as well. I highly doubt this was cleaned. I found it in one of my old change jars when I first began collecting and went through it and pulled it out because it definently stood out as the nicest older nickel in the lot. It has very good luster and eye-appeal I'll take some better pictures under better lighting.

I'm leaning towards AU58 but the third image of the OP does seem to be cleaned and no luster.

What tells you that it was cleaned? I just tried a darker shot on that image to try to show off some of the detail, using the camera to block out some of the yellow light. Maybe it was cleaned 10+ years ago before it found the way to the bottom of one of my change jars. Just seems unlikely to me, but I duno.
